Who would have thought that online networking events would become a thing?

When we started our online networking events in June 2020, we thought that we would be hosting a few virtual events and then we would be straight back to our well attended and enjoyable face-to-face events in Manchester.

The MPostcode team were very excited to provide a safe virtual environment for our members and guests to connect. However, having never held an online networking event before, we were also a little nervous. Needless to say, the nerves evaporated into the ether when, on the afternoon of June 17th 2020, we were joined by the smiling faces and engaging conversation of 39 business people. It was a fantastic start!

Following this success, and understanding that we would not be returning to face-to-face events any time soon, we began organising our online networking events to be held every month.

We soon realised the sense of community that we’d created through our friendly approach, the many breakout rooms created throughout the 90 minute event, the impromptu discussions, guest speakers and unique hosting. We have happily watched our events grow and grow throughout 2020, so much so that we held one of the largest online networking events in the UK (or at least that we know of) in January 2021 with 98 people!

We want to thank everyone who have attended our online events so far and to the wonderful people who have spoken about their businesses or charity, or spoken up with a ‘gem’ of an idea to share with the event at large. We love the support that we received from our members and the positive comments and emails received from attendees. It means everything to us that we have still been able to bring businesses together and see the fruits of connections in the form of business ideas, paid for work, community support and referrals.

And of course, a very special thank you Aaron Dean who has been hosting our online events since the very beginning and to the wonderful Sara Starling who joined us in November as a co-host. They have helped to make our events welcoming, enjoyable, engaging and unique each month for everyone.

We also owe a big thank you our main sponsors Greenlight Computers and we would welcome enquiries from organisations who would be interested in sponsoring our events in the future.

Heading towards our February event, we want to keep up the great work with our online events and hopefully carry the successes through to our face-to-face events when we can!

Thank you everyone again, take care and we hope to see you at our event in February!
