Celebrating 20 Years: MBH Partner Greenlight Computers Marks Milestone Anniversary with Move to Manchester Innovation Campus

We’re delighted to share some exciting news from one of our valued partners. Greenlight Computers, the Manchester-based managed IT and cybersecurity provider, is celebrating 20 years in business and marking the milestone with a move to a new home at the heart of Manchester’s innovation scene.

Two Decades of Supporting Manchester Businesses

For 20 years, Greenlight Computers has been a trusted name for managed IT support and cybersecurity across Manchester and the Northwest, helping businesses in sectors including life sciences, healthcare and professional services run secure, resilient IT operations. It’s a milestone that reflects two decades of building long-term client relationships and adapting to an industry that has changed almost beyond recognition since the company first opened its doors.

And rather than mark the occasion by simply staying put, Greenlight is using this moment to take a deliberate step forward.

A New Home at the Manchester Incubator Building

Greenlight Computers is relocating to the Manchester Incubator Building (MIB), part of The University of Manchester’s innovation campus at 48 Grafton Street, Manchester, M13 9XX.

Importantly, this isn’t a growth story in the traditional sense. The company isn’t expanding headcount or footprint; it’s repositioning itself inside one of Manchester’s key innovation environments. The Incubator Building sits within the University’s wider £1.7 billion, 15-year regeneration of the former North Campus into a global innovation district and is already home to organisations including Epistem and the University of Manchester Innovation Factory.

Being based on site gives Greenlight closer, more regular contact with the University’s Innovation team, and places the company alongside a concentration of technology and research-led businesses that reflect the kind of clients it already supports. Several existing and prospective clients, including organisations working directly with the University’s Innovation Factory are based in the same building or the wider campus, bringing the team physically closer to the people it works with day to day.

John Sewell, Chief Operations Officer at Greenlight Computers, explains the thinking behind the move:

“This isn’t about getting bigger, it’s about being in the right place. The Incubator Building puts us inside a genuinely active innovation community, close to the University and close to clients we already work with. For a business built on managed IT and cybersecurity, being visible and accessible within that ecosystem matters as much as anything we could gain from a larger office.”

A Carefully Planned Transition

The relocation has been planned as a phased transition rather than a single cutover. Greenlight moved into the new building at the start of September and will continue to retain its current office at 45 Spring Gardens until 18 November, allowing the two sites to run in parallel while systems, access and day-to-day logistics are fully bedded in at the new building. The priority throughout has been a controlled handover with no interruption to client service.

The new office also keeps Greenlight close to Manchester city centre, well served by Oxford Road and Piccadilly stations along with a number of city and campus bus routes, keeping it just as easy to reach for staff, clients and visitors as before.

Why This Matters to Our MBH Community

Greenlight Computers has long been a familiar and trusted partner within the MBH network, and milestones like this one are exactly the kind of good news we love to celebrate alongside our members. Twenty years in business is no small achievement, and this move shows a company that isn’t resting on its success but actively investing in where and how it operates next.

We’d like to congratulate the whole team at Greenlight Computers on reaching this milestone and wish them well as they settle into their new home on Grafton Street.
